Reconciliation
On 13 February 2008 the Australian Government said ‘sorry’ to the Aboriginal Stolen Generations and, the North Coast TAFE Institute Executive expressed its support for Aboriginal people on the North Coast by saying ‘sorry’ for past injustices and by publicly restating our commitment to work in partnership with Aboriginal communities through the power of education.
Reconciliation Action Plan
To formalise this commitment we have developed a North Coast TAFE Reconciliation Action Plan (PDF, 4,026KB) which was launched in Reconciliation Week 2009.
Through this Plan, we reaffirm our deep respect for Aboriginal people as the first people of the North Coast region and our commitment to cultural affirmation, to economic and social inclusion, and to social justice and reconciliation on the North Coast.
Our Reconciliation Action Plan focuses on building relationships and respect - and a set of concrete, measurable actions - so that the work we are doing, and plan to do, moves us towards our 2020 Vision and ensures our services strengthen cultural, social and economic sustainability in Aboriginal communities.
We welcome continuous feedback and ideas on ways to translate our plan into action.
