A group of new international students yesterday took time to explore the CHEC campus, with an orientation tour by International Services Coordinator, Sandra Moon.
Ms Moon said, “Our new students join a rapidly growing contingent of students from countries including, Kenya, Bhutan, Nepal, India, the UK, China and Philippines, studying in areas such as design, beauty therapy, IT, horticulture, tourism and hospitality across our North Coast TAFE campuses”.
“Our new Coffs Harbour group will be studying Diploma level courses in horticulture, tourism and nursing” said Ms Moon. “And this will be the first time the Diploma in Nursing is being offered for international students in Coffs Harbour”.
Ms Jezreel Cagwan, from the Philippines, has studied Certificate III in Childcare and an Aged Care Certificate IV in Sydney, and is now continuing her qualifications in nursing. Ms Cagwan says “Coffs Harbour is a much better place to study.”
Later this month, Regional Outreach Officer from the Department of Immigration and Citizenship, Mr Rhett Henkel, will visit CHEC to give a presentation to international students, their families and other interested visitors about the Skilled Migration Program and points system, as well as the changes to be introduced since the Knight Review.
This session will be held in the D Block lecture theatre at Coffs Harbour Education Campus, 23 February from 1.00pm. Contact Sandra Moon, 6659 3047 for details.
