Coxswain

This course is for people who want to develop the practical skills and knowledge required to work as a coxswain. You will learn to take charge of vessels less than 12 metres in length and with engines up to 250kW, operating within inshore limits (up to 15 nautical miles from the coast).

Evidence of sea time/service on board a vessel will be required to obtain a Certificate of Competency from the state regulatory authority.

Attendance Details:
This course is delivered flexibly with students given the option to attend key note lectures on the following days:
Tuesdays 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm, Thursdays 9.00 am - 12.00 noon, 1.00 pm - 4.00 pm and 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm. 
Tutorial support is also available on Wednesdays 9.00 am - 12.00 pm and 6.00 pm - 9.00 pm
Costs - TAFE NSW Fee:
$253.00 per semester for 2013.  Some students may be eligible for a concession fee of $100.00.
Costs - Course Related Charge:
$50.00 per semester.

Pre Requisites:
You need to be a student enrolled in a High School and completing Year 10, the HSC or Preliminary year to apply for this course; however, there are no formal educational requirements for entry.
Costs - TAFE NSW Fee:
<div>There is no TAFE fee for NSW government school students, as NSW government schools have a state-wide arrangement to pay TVET costs directly to TAFE and do not pass these costs onto their students. Non-government schools and schools outside NSW also pay TVET costs directly to TAFE, but some schools may require their TVET students to pay additional fees to the school to contribute to the cost of TAFE-delivered courses. The amount you pay will depend on where you live and/or work.
 
NSW Government-subsidised fee: $253.00 for Semester 2, 2013. Some students may be eligible for a concession fee of $100.00. You may also need to re-enrol in 2014 and pay the appropriate fees.
