Animal Studies
This course is for people wanting to gain experience in working with animals. It is an entry point into the animal care industry and prepares you for job roles such as an animal attendant in a kennel, cattery, animal shelter or pet shop. The course enables you to develop skills and knowledge required for the care and maintenance of animals in a variety of workplaces. You will learn about the animal care industry and careers available in its many sectors. Whilst undertaking this course it is highly recommended that you seek to gain a period of work experience in an animal care workplace. This will allow you to practise what you have learnt and experience what it is like to work with others in an animal care facility. By completing the course, you will be able to catch and handle a range of animals, feed and water animals, complete animal care hygiene routines, assist in the health care of animals and communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues.
