Multicultural education services

If English is not your main language, or if you need assistance with literacy, North Coast TAFE can assist you. We have specific courses, services and policies to ensure that you can make full use of our programs and participate equally.

We can help you to find programs that will improve your English reading, writing, speaking and listening skills, and prepare you for work or further study.

Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP)

The Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) provides English tuition to new migrants and refugees to help them settle into life in Australia. Through the AMEP, you can attend English language classes at North Coast TAFE.

New migrants, refugees and people on temporary visas may be eligible to study free of charge under the AMEP. To determine your eligibility, please contact or visit us for more information. If you think you may be unable to attend classes at our colleges, we can give you information about studying at other institutions or with a home-tutor.

AMEP is funded by the Australian Government Department of Immigration and Citizenship.

Temporary visa holders

If you have a temporary visa, TAFE NSW allows you to enrol in courses, subject to places being available and individual course entry requirements being met. Enrolment conditions apply to students holding temporary visas, depending on the visa subclass.

Most temporary visa holders pay the TAFE NSW fee and tuition fees. An audit of residency status will be conducted following enrolment.

If you have a temporary visa, phone contact us for specific details on enrolling and fees.
