Canteen and student common room
Each campus provides a student common area to relax in outside of class hours. Most campuses also have a canteen, tea and coffee-making facilities, microwave ovens and food and drink vending machines.
Each campus employs security officers or contracts a security firm to provide security patrols, to ensure a safe and secure student and staff environment.
Student Associations are run by students for students and are a great way to get involved in campus activities, social and sporting events. Many campus Student Associations provide a range of support services such as vending machines, photocopiers, recreational facilities, and accommodation assistance.
You can join your local Student Association for $20 for a full year, or $10 for the second half of the year. As a member you get student rates on TAFE NSW activities and services such as bookshops, and discounts listed in the Student Association Discount Guide. You can find out more by contacting your campus association executive officer.
All campuses have a Student Associations Officer. Their role is to find out what facilities, services and activities are needed by the students, to run the Student Associations and to advise students of their rights and responsibilities.
The TAFEcard is a student identification card and a stored value card. It displays your photograph, name and student number. You use it for identification on campus and in final examinations, for registration on the TAFE NSW library network, for membership of your student association, access to parking and secure areas such as computer laboratories and for eligible student travel and other concessions. It also contains a reloadable ‘electronic purse’ and works at TELSTRA payphones. The TAFEcard also allows you to receive discounts on a range of goods and services. Find out more about the TAFEcard.
