Support services

Travelling to a new town or country to study can be a little daunting but here at North Coast TAFE we offer a range of services designed to make the transition as simple, comfortable and enjoyable as possible.

Before you begin your studies at TAFE you will be offered an orientation, which will help you become familiar with the staff, facilities and services on your campus. We will contact you with details of your orientation once you are enrolled in your chosen course.

Campus facilities

Generally speaking, each campus is equipped with:

  • Modern classrooms and equipment
  • Specialist training centres
  • Tutorial support for students experiencing difficulties in English, mathematics or science
  • Student cafeterias/common areas which may include a canteen, tea and coffee-making facilities, microwave ovens and food and drink vending machines
  • A bookshop and modern library
  • Computer and Internet access, including copying, printing and scanning facilities
  • Study areas
  • Security officers and/or patrols to ensure a safe and secure environment.
  • Accommodation assistance including homestays with Australian families, private housing and onsite accommodation where available.

Other services

We also offer a range of services to assist you with any problems, concerns or queries you have about life on campus.

These include:

  • Counselling and careers advice: Our counsellors are here to listen and help you work through your plans, ideas, feelings or uncertainties about study, work or life in general.

Of course, as an international student at North Coast TAFE, life isn’t meant to be all about study. You will also have the opportunity to experience a new culture and environment and to make some new friends.

Each campus has a Student Association which is run by students for students. This is a great way to get involved in social and sporting activities and to meet other students.

Many campus Student Associations also offer support services such as public telephones, vending machines, photocopiers, newspapers, recreational facilities and accommodation assistance. As a member you will also be entitled to student discounts at other TAFE facilities, such as the bookshop.

For more information on any of these services, please contact us. You may also be able to find the answers to some of your questions by referring to the Frequently Asked Questions section.
